Nusa Dua, December 2016…The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali was honoured to host leaders and delegates for the recent Bali Democracy Forum IX. This high-profile event took place in private meeting rooms including the grand Mangupura Hall and Auditorium of the Bali International Convention Centre from 8^th – 9^th December 2016.

The Bali Democracy Forum is an annual, inclusive and open intergovernmental forum on the development of democracy in the Asia Pacific region. The forum is aimed to promote and foster regional and international cooperation in the field of peace and democracy through dialogue-based on sharing experiences and best practices that adhere to the principle of equality, mutual respect and understanding, with the participating countries sharing its ownership.  

This year forum brings theme of “Religion, Democracy and Pluralism” opened by H.E President of Indonesia, Mr Joko Widodo who also stayed in the beautiful Presidential Suite of the resort. The conference was attended by by Ministers of Asia Pacific countries including Mr Kofi Annan, the seventh Secretary-General of the United Nations as one of the keynote speakers who also experience his stay at the resort. Although it was an official visit to the island of Bali, delegates had the opportunity to experience the Westin brand initiatives including SuperFoodsRx as healthy eating options which were available during their meeting. 

Before leaving the island, President Joko Widodo even had moment for photo opportunity accompanied by Governor of Bali, Mr. Mangku Pastika with Managing Director of The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali, Mr. Bipan Kapur and his team. It was an honor to be part of his official visit and once again be the official venue to host such a high level Presidential event.
